No Tech Tuesdays

This week was our first week to try our "No tech Tuesdays." It is an idea we talked about and decided to put into practice. I am actually really excited about it. Basically every Tuesday from 6 pm until 9 pm or later we have zero technology. No phones, computer, TV, etc.

We love our TV shows, blogs, video games, phones, etc. etc. but the reality is after being on all those things everyday we came to the conclusion that it is important to have a designated time away from them. I of course being such a planner said, "What if there is an emergency?" Rich said if we continue to hear our phone rings we will check them, but otherwise it is not a very long time and we will make it.

Last night we both realized how nice it was to have quiet. I read a magazine, he hit some golf balls. We have not decided on all the "rules" yet, but I can tell you I thoroughly enjoyed the first "No tech Tuesday." I am looking forward to the intentional time with each other. It is amazing what a few hours away from everything can do. We felt refreshed and realized how hyped up electronics can make us.

Here's to many more!

We are going to Guatemala!

Rich and I are very excited to have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala in November. We are going with a team from VRBC and Buckner. Some of you know I had the opportunity to serve in Guatemala in high school and I loved it! I am so so excited to go back.

During our time in Guatemala, Rich and I will be serving at a Buckner Community Transformation Center in the community of San Jose Pinula which is near Guatemala City. We will be doing spiritual enrichment, education, community improvement, Bible school, etc. This is the first time Rich and I will be serving internationally together. We have been on mission trips with students, but this trip is considered a family trip and our first without students.

We have sent out our support letters and are thrilled to see the responses. We are trying to come up with an idea for fundraising, such as odd jobs, etc. Any thoughts are welcome. We covet your prayers and are excited to be serving God in new ways.

Catch up

Well I cannot believe how long it has been since my last post! Rich and I have been incredibly busy! I cannot tell you where July went. Now that it is August, it is so hard to believe we are almost halfway to September! Whew! A couple of weeks ago Amanda and Joey came to town. We were so excited because we have not seen them since their move to Houston. Amanda had to work in Dallas, so she and Joey came in a little early to hang out with us and Shay and Adam!

We went to Top Golf and Amanda and I realized how bad we are :)

We went to Uncle Julio's with Shay and Adam. Uncle Julio's has been one of my favorites since childhood and I am always excited when people want to go there.

I am sad I did not get a picture of the whole group. But we had a blast! We hung out afterwards, chatted, and watched the Olympics. Sunday afternoon we headed to the dog park with Tegan, the Hance's dogs and the Paulson's dog. It was waayyy to hot so we were not there long and I did not snap any pictures. It was such a fun weekend! Blessed to have great friends!

This past weekend we had a student retreat at the lake. We enjoyed games, tubing, relaxing, and watched the meteor shower.
